THREE DAY REMOTE SCORING COURSE

Class Size:

 We keep our class sizes one-on-one hands-on. You will be assigned a RPSGT instructor who will remotely teach you how to score sleep and different types of sleep patterns

Prerequisites:

Each student must have at least six months experience working in the field of sleep medicine where the primary job involves data collection.

The student should also have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Windows XP, 2000, Window Vista, High Speed Internet Conneciton and a working cell or home phone. The student has to also be availabe on the days the instructor and student agree on.

Course Description:

This course is designed for practicing sleep technicians who need to either begin scoring polysomnographic studies or for those individuals who need to review or improve their scoring skills.

This course includes didactic overviews of the entire scoring process. This information is sent to you, before the remote scoring session begins: You are expected to read the information and be prepared to asked questions during the hands on Remote Scoring session. The scoring session includes:

Adult Sleep Stage Scoring Rules
Alternative Sleep Staging Techniques for Severe Pathology
Scoring Sleep Disordered Breathing Pathologies (ALL)
Scoring PLMS Events
Scoring Arousals of Sleep (ALL)
Scoring in the Presence of Artifact
Reviewing Tabular Sleep Reports and Histograms,
These didactic classes are followed by a final day hands on Remote Scoring.

Course Objectives:

to give the student a better understanding of the published rules and guidelines for scoring human sleep.
to allow the student direct hands-on remote scoring in an at home environment.
to give the student a greater knowledge of sleep report design and reviewing techniques.

Tuition: $285.00

A $50.00 deposit is required at the time of registration to reserve a time. A letter confirming your reservation will be sent to you after this deposit is received. The remaining balance is paid the day the course is given. Payments are made through paypal or sent by check. Your check must clear before a scoring session begins.

Tuition includes basic scoring rules and paperwork - The complete 212 page Sleep Scoring Manual can be purchased with us and is recommended for this course.

Course Schedule:

You and the assign Instructor will decide on the best time to begin the sessions. The course is given for 3 days at 3-4 hour sessions. The days do not have to be together.

Once you completed the one on one score training you will be allowed to score a test subject twice a month for 3 months after the class. An instuctor will go over each test scoring with you. This will help you maintain your scoring skill you just learned.
